UQP acquires new poetry collection by Ellen van Neerven

UQP has acquired world rights to Ellen van Neerven’s second poetry collection, Throat.

Throat is described by the publisher as ‘a collection of poems about whiteness, climate change, extinctions; about types of shame lodged squarely in the throat; about family, identity, queerness and pride’.

Publisher Aviva Tuffield says: ‘Throat is an incredible collection that takes Ellen’s work to a whole new level and confirms their place as a key writer of their generation. These poems are clever, inventive and stylish, addressing many important and timely themes, ones that will resonate with so many readers. It is an honour to be working with this talented writer on this powerful and necessary collection.’

‘I’m pleased my second collection will join my first at UQP,’ says van Neerven, ‘and I look forward to working with publisher Aviva Tuffield and also, once again, with poet Felicity Plunkett on developing the manuscript.’

Throat will be published by UQP in August 2020.
