Mark and Evette Moran Nib Literary Award 2019 shortlist announced

The shortlist for the 2019 Mark and Evette Moran Literary Award, known as ‘the Nib’, has been announced.
The shortlisted titles are:
- An Unconventional Wife: The life of Julia Sorrell Arnold (Mary Hoban, Scribe)
- Imperfect: How our bodies shape the people we become (Lee Kofman, Affirm)
- Her Mother’s Daughter: A memoir (Nadia Wheatley, Text)
- The Arsonist (Chloe Hooper, Hamish Hamilton)
- Dr Space Junk vs The Universe: Archaeology and the future (Alice Gorman, NewSouth)
- Steve Smith’s Men (Geoff Lemon, Hardie Grant).
The winners will be announced on 14 November at a breakfast event hosted by author Richard Glover. The winner will receive a cash prize of $20,000, while the authors of the shortlisted books each receive the Alex Buzo Shortlist Prize of $1000.
The award, established by the Waverley Library in 2002, recognises the role of research in fiction and nonfiction. This year’s all-nonfiction shortlist was chosen from a longlist of 17 titles announced in August.
