Dymocks wins social responsibility award at 2019 National Retail Awards

Dymocks has won the Social Responsibility Champion Award at the 2019 National Retail Awards.

The chain retailer was awarded for its work in improving children’s literacy across Australia through its in-store fundraising and its support of Dymocks Children’s Charities (DCC).

The National Retail Association highlighted the efforts made by Dymocks to raise literacy at a community level, citing its Round-Up and Books for Kids campaigns. The Round Up campaign, which encourages customers to either round-up their purchase to the nearest dollar or to donate a dollar to DCC, has raised nearly $190,000 in the last financial year to help kids read. The Books for Kids program supports reading programs in local schools, and this year provided new books to nearly 15,000 children in Australian primary schools and community organisations.

Dymocks managing director Steven Cox said: ‘This award is a real testament to our hardworking staff who come up with creative ways to promote literacy and fundraise for DCC. From payroll giving, individual fundraising initiatives and donation boxes, through to visiting beneficiary schools for story time, each store cultivates its own approach to supporting DCC and connecting young readers with great stories.’
