Benjamin Law to give Colin Simpson Memorial Lecture 2019

The Australian Society of Authors (ASA) is delighted to announce Benjamin Law will present the Colin Simpson Memorial Lecture 2019: Stories from the Margins.

Growing up, Benjamin Law rarely read, heard or saw stories about people like him—specifically Australians from queer or Asian backgrounds. For his entire adult writing career—across journalism, books, TV and theatre—he’s been dedicated to telling stories from the margins. In this lecture, Benjamin discusses why those stories matter, the myriad challenges in telling them and how much further we have to go.

The ASA Medal will be presented before the lecture starts and the ASA AGM will also be held beforehand at the same venue at 5pm.
