wāni wins 2019 Australian Poetry Slam

Melbourne-based poet wāni has won the 2019 Australian Poetry Slam, held in Sydney on 20 October.
wāni beat 15 other finalists at the national grand final after qualifying by coming second to Zaynab Farah in the Victorian state finals.
As the winner, wāni will undertake an international writers’ festival tour, performing at Ubud Writers & Readers Festival, Singapore Writers Festival and Hong Kong International Literary Festival. He also receives a two-week artist residency with Bundanon Trust in New South Wales.
