Magabala, OzCo to hold First Nations Writers’ Residency in Broome
Magabala Books and the Australia Council have announced a new residency for mid-career Indigenous writers, to be held in Broome from 4–13 May 2020.
The First Nations Writers’ Residency is open to writers who have published a minimum of one book and who are currently working on fiction (adult and young adult), poetry, narrative nonfiction, short stories, anthologies or literary magazines. Six recipients will receive $1000 each, with travel expenses, accommodation and meals included.
The residency provides First Nations writers with the opportunity to engage with Magabala Books and to gain insight into the roles of editors, agents and sales representatives, and marketing within a global context.
Applications are now open and close Thursday, 12 March. For more information about the residency, visit the Australia Council website.
