Foxlee, Cai, Tan longlisted for 2020 Carnegie, Greenaway medals

Australian children’s author Karen Foxlee and illustrators Shaun Tan and Rovina Cai have been longlisted for the UK’s 2020 Carnegie and Kate Greenaway medals respectively.

Foxlee was longlisted for the Carnegie Medal for an outstanding book for children and young people for her middle-grade novel Lenny’s Book of Everything (A&U).

Cai (And the Ocean Was Our Sky, Patrick Ness, Walker) and Tan (Tales from the Inner City, A&U) are among the illustrators longlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal for distinguished illustration in a book for children and young people.

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, a number of Australian authors and illustrators were nominated for the 2020 Carnegie and Kate Greenaway medals in November last year.

The shortlists for both the 2020 Carnegie and Kate Greenaway medals will be announced on 19 March, with the winners to be announced on 17 June.

The medals are presented annually by the UK’s Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP). For more information about awards and CILIP, visit the website.
