BookUp announces first keynotes

The Australian Publishers Association has announced the first keynote speakers for its inaugural book industry conference BookUp.

Demographer Claire Madden will present ‘Generational change: where is Australia going?’, a look at the trends and changes expected in consumer behaviours over the next decade. Madden will explore where population growth will come from and what that means for publishers, how Australians’ purchasing patterns are changing; and how publishers can evolve their content to meet new consumption patterns and demands. She will also speculate on what the industry might expect from Gen Z.

Chris Sim, former CTO of Bookish.com, will deliver ‘The new world order: redefining the way we work to reach readers’, a presentation on the evolution of book discovery and unpicking the mysteries of making books discoverable to more highly relevant, targeted audiences.

The conference will be held in Sydney on Tuesday, 23 June 2020, the day after the Australian Booksellers Association’s conference, which runs from 21–22 June. Both conferences will be held at the Sofitel Wentworth.

Early bird tickets are available until 31 March. For more information, visit the BookUp website.
