OzCo re-opens Arts and Disability Mentoring Initiative; Relief Fund to open Friday

The Australia Council has announced it will re-open applications for the Arts and Disability Mentoring Initiative and has extended the deadline to 14 April.

The initiative was among those the Council suspended last week as part of its response to Covid-19. However, CEO Adrian Collette said in a statement that the Council had reviewed all suspended programs and that the Arts and Disability Mentoring Initiative was ‘a significant priority area for the Council’.

Collette also announced more detail about the Council’s relief response to the Covid-19 crisis, which will utilise approximately $5 million in repurposed and uncommitted funds to provide a Resilience Fund in three streams:

  • Survive: ‘small grants for individuals, groups and organisations to offset or recoup financial losses due to cancelled activity’
  • Adapt: ‘grants for individuals, groups and organisations to adapt their practice and explore new operating model’, and
  • Create: ‘grants for individuals, groups and organisations to continue to create artistic work and develop creative responses in a time of disruption’.

Organisations that currently receive multi-year Australia Council funding are not eligible to apply.

Applications open this Friday 3 April and information will be available from the Australia Council website from that day.
