Saunders wins 2020 ABR Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize

Mykaela Saunders has won the 2020 Australian Book Review (ABR) Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize for her story ‘River Story’.
Saunders receives $6000. C J Garrow was placed second for his story ‘Egg Timer’, and Simone Hollander was placed third for her story ‘Hieroglyph’.
The 2020 judges were Gregory Day, Josephine Rowe and Ellen van Neerven. They also commended five other stories: ‘Lucky Charms’ by Jennifer Down (Victoria), ‘I Believe’ by V S Kumar (India), ‘Wait for Me’ by Jasmin McGaughey (Queensland), ‘Two Africas’ by Jean McNeil (UK) and ‘Bedford Jeune’ by Lauren Sarazen (France).
The three shortlisted stories will appear in the August issue of ABR.
