Australia Council announces $2m Re:imagine: Sector Recovery Initiatives fund

The Australia Council has announced $2 million in funding has been allocated to the new Re:imagine: Sector Recovery Initiatives fund.

Offered in two streams—‘cultural and creative solutions’ and ‘industry collaborations’—the initiative asks applicants to propose ‘future-focused strategic initiatives’ responding to the priorities of resilience, leadership, digital, equity and justice, mobility and exchange, and health and wellbeing.

Successful applicants will work with the Australia Council’s Sector Development team in the design and development of ideas and projects, with final outcomes to be shared with the wider industry, ‘in recognition of the collective commitment that is needed to ensure the strength, vibrancy and sustainability of Australia’s arts and culture into the future’.

Applications to the streams are exempt from the Australia Council’s usual limit on allowable applications and applicants can apply for both streams, but can only receive funding for one application.

Organisations receiving more than $500,000 in multi-year funding from Australia Council are ineligible to apply, although eligible applicants can partner with such organisations.

The fund is ‘a direct response to the disruptions and challenges experienced by the cultural and creative industries due to the COVID-19 pandemic’ and has been informed by the Council’s Re-imagine: What next? consultations in September and October 2020.
