Wild, Riddle nominated for 2022 Hans Christian Andersen Awards

Margaret Wild and Tohby Riddle have been nominated by IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People) Australia as the Australian candidates for the 2022 Hans Christian Andersen Awards.

Wild has been nominated for the author’s award and Riddle for the illustrator’s award. They are among 62 candidates from 33 countries nominated for the prizes.

The Hans Christian Andersen Awards are presented biennially to a living author and illustrator whose complete works have made a lasting contribution to children’s literature. The shortlist will be announced in January 22 ahead of the winners announcement at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in March/April 2022.

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, Libby Gleeson and Ann James were nominated for the 2020 awards, which went to US writer Jacqueline Woodson and Swiss illustrator Albertine.
