Scott to represent Australia in Literature Live Around the World event
Writing WA will present a session featuring multi-award-winning Noongar author Kim Scott in conversation with writer and journalist Gillian O’Shaughnessy, as Australia’s contribution to a multi-country Literature Live Around the World event.
The free event, which will feature 11 other countries, will stream live for 12 hours from 7pm AWST on Friday, 12 February.
‘Around the World will take viewers on a literary journey to 12 countries, where each host country will present a literary program on their own stage with their selected authors and other artists,’ said a statement from Writing WA.
Other countries to be featured are Norway, Afghanistan, India, the United Arab Emirates, Nigeria, Argentina, Scotland, France, the US, Canada, and Jamaica.
The focus of Scott’s conversation with O’Shaughnessy will be Scott’s essay ‘One Voice’, published last year in the anthology, Fire, Flood, Plague (ed by Sophie Cunningham, Vintage), in which he reflects on what 2020 has meant to him, and why Aboriginal heritage and the natural environment need to be at the centre of national reconstruction.
For the full program visit the Bergen International Literary Festival website.
The event will be streamed on YouTube.
