Publisher, bookseller Facebook pages wiped; ABIA, ABDA longlists
Late last week, a number of local publishers, literary journals and booksellers had their Facebook pages wiped of content after the social media company responded to the federal government’s proposed new media bargaining code by banning the sharing of Australian news content on its platform.
The longlists for this year’s ABIAs and ABDAs headline this week’s awards news. Pip Williams was named winner of the fourth annual MUD Literary Prize, the WAYRBA shortlists were revealed, and Text announced the new Steph Bowe Mentorship for Young Writers.
In other news, the Sydney Review of Books, the Wheeler Centre and seven writers festivals are the latest recipients of funding from the Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund, and HarperCollins sales director Darren Kelly has left the company after nine years in the role.
