MUP profit up 19%, Fogarty Literary Award winner
Following its move to increase its focus on scholarly publishing, MUP has reported an operating profit increase of 19%.
In other news, Spineless Wonders has launched a new imprint that expands its remit outside short fiction, and digital library service hoopla has expanded to Australia.
The winner of the $20,000 Fogarty Literary Award was announced, as was the inaugural Kuracca longlist and Writing NSW’s Emerging Writers mentees. French author David Diop took out the International Booker Prize, while, also overseas, US audiobook sales grew 12% last year and sales of backlist titles were up during the UK’s 2020 lockdowns. Meanwhile, Bloomsbury recorded ‘outstanding’ results in 2020, with revenue and profit both up.
