US half-yearly bookstore sales up 30%

In the US, bookstore sales in the first half of 2021 rose 30.3% compared to the same period last year, reports Publishers Weekly.
Bookstore sales rose from US$2.82 billion (A$3.9b) in the first half of 2020 to US$3.67 billion (A$5.1b) in the first half of this year. Bookstore sales in June were up 81% year-to-year, from US$388 million (A$535m) to US$703 million (A$969m)—the first time since 2013 that June bookstore sales topped US$700 million.
The entire retail segment in the US was up 23% in the first half of 2021.
