Matilda Bookshop announces new residency for SA writers

Matilda Bookshop in the Adelaide Hills, in partnership with Writers SA and Ultimo Press, has announced a new annual residency fellowship for a South Australian writer, the Deep Creek Residency Fellowship.

According to the organisers, the fellowship ‘aims to remedy a gap in the literary community’ as there are currently no SA residency fellowships offered to SA writers.

Launching in October 2022, the new fellowship will offer one successful writer a $500 travel/living subsidy, a week-long residency at Grass Tree Gully in Deep Creek on the Fleurieu Peninsula, a mentorship session with writer Hannah Kent, and an initial one-hour phone consultation with Ultimo Press.

Applications will be assessed by Writers SA staff, with the shortlist judged by Writers SA and Matilda Bookshop.

Applications open Wednesday, 2 February. For more information, see Matilda Bookshop’s website.
