Windham-Campbell Prizes 2022 recipients announced
In the US, the recipients of the 2022 Windham-Campbell Prizes, worth US$165,000 (A$219,000) each, have been announced.
This year’s recipients are US playwright Sharon Bridgforth and British playwright Winsome Pinnock for drama; Zimbabwean authors Siphiwe Floria Ndlovu and Tsitsi Dangarembga for fiction; US writer and critic Margo Jefferson and Nigerian writer, editor and photographer Emmanuel Iduma for nonfiction; and British poet Zaffar Kunial and Ireland-based Singaporean-Chinese poet Wong May for poetry.
In their 10th year, the Windham-Campbell Prizes recognise the body of work to date of eight writers from around the world, and offers them time to work on their craft.
Melbourne-based writer Maria Tumarkin was one of the winners of the 2020 Windham-Campbell Prize for nonfiction, while Yankunytjatjara poet Ali Cobby Eckermann received the prize in 2017 and Helen Garner was awarded for nonfiction in 2016.
