Overland announces Judith Wright Poetry Prize shortlist

The shortlist for the 2021 Overland Judith Wright Poetry Prize for new and emerging poets has been announced.
The eight shortlisted poems are:
- ‘are you ready poem’ by Ender Baskan
- ‘re: my last missive’ by Christine Fontana
- ‘A Message from the NRMA’ by Jake Goetz
- ‘Pretty Sick’ by Maddie Godfrey
- ‘the national debt’ by Gareth Morgan
- ‘NICE REPRISAL’ by Ursula Robinson-Shaw
- ‘stones’ by Lillian Rupcic
- ‘Reading Scribbly Gum’ by Tais Rose Wae
- ‘Hide and Seek’ by Sophia Walsh.
This year’s shortlist was chosen by judges Grace Yee, Keri Glastonbury and Toby Fitch from over 600 entries.
The winner is awarded $6000, while the first and second runner-ups receives $2000 and $1000 respectively. The three poems will be published in the autumn 2022 issue of Overland.
