Fair Work approves BRTD EBA

The enterprise bargaining agreement between staff and owners at Sydney bookshop Better Read Than Dead (BRTD) signed earlier this year, has been approved by the Fair Work Commission.

Conditions under the agreement include the restoration of 100% penalty rates for work on Sundays; workers being paid a higher base rate per hour than the Award minimum after a year’s service; conversion to permanent ongoing employment for casual staff who wish to convert; and the abolition of junior rates following probationary periods, with all workers to be classified at least at Retail Employee Level 3 following probationary periods.

Other conditions include health and safety clauses, paid domestic violence leave and 26 weeks paid parental leave.

The agreement can be found here.
