Marketing and publicity executive, Sydney

Bloomsbury Australia has an incredible opportunity for a marketing and publicity executive to join our dedicated team.

Bloomsbury is proud to be a creative, dynamic, independent publisher of books, audiobooks and digital content and brings these works of excellence and originality to a global audience.

We publish many of the world’s biggest authors, including Sarah J Maas, Elizabeth Gilbert, Ann Patchett, Susanna Clarke Isabel Allende, J K Rowling, Katherine Rundell and Neil Gaiman.

This position is a dream role for someone who loves books. It is an opportunity to develop both your publicity and marketing skills.

Key tasks include:

  • Developing and executing effective and comprehensive marketing, digital and PR plans for assigned titles.
  • Building relationships with media, booksellers, event organisers and authors
  • Accompanying authors on tour
  • Devising and producing point of sale material
  • Sourcing and booking traditional and digital advertising
  • Creating or sourcing digital assets
  • Working with team members in Bloomsbury Australia and our global offices to ensure timely implementation of team functions and activities.

To do this, you’ll need demonstrated experience in a marketing or PR role, ideally within the publishing, arts or book retail sectors.

  • You must be an effective communicator who is confident dealing with people at all levels
  • You’ll have strong copywriting and proof-reading skills
  • We welcome applicants with demonstrated experience of strategic marketing and PR campaign planning to deliver sales and stay within budget
  • A working knowledge of specialist and generalist media outlets will be highly regarded
  • Interstate travel is a requirement in this role.

This role will suit a team player with a willingness to learn quickly and lend their hand to a range of tasks. We are looking for someone who is highly organised, detail focused, self-directed, with proven excellent time management skills and the ability to schedule and plan projects. You’ll be using Microsoft and Adobe suites, as well as publishing specific software so will need to be confident at learning new software and processes.
