The opportunity:

As an experienced publisher (product manager) you will bring your proven track record in commissioning educational product for the primary sector to our friendly and successful publishing team and be accountable for the entire lifecycle of your products, end to end.

This position is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional individual to contribute strategically and drive evidence-based, innovative, learner centric products that improve the learning outcomes and engagement experience of students and teachers.

You will report to the publishing manager, primary, and be based in our South Melbourne head office. However, currently working from home arrangements are in place with the opportunity to utilise the Melbourne office when required.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and identify market opportunities and trends to produce innovative and profitable new products for use in Primary schools in Australia, New Zealand and export markets
  • Provide strategic vision and plans for the development of new publishing projects
  • Develop a range of print, digital or blended products that are customer-focused, evidence-based, curriculum aligned and learner centric
  • Develop and maintain regular contact with educators to ensure that Cengage is kept up-to-date with educational initiatives and trends
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously within scope and budget
  • Assist, support and mentor the primary publishing team.

Your attributes:

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

  • An excellent understanding of curriculum developments and current primary classroom practice
  • Proven experience in developing customer focused resources for teaching and learning that meet student and educator needs
  • Knowledge of learning design with an emphasis on digital learning solutions that address customer needs
  • A willingness to develop, test and iterate ideas in the market
  • An ability to collaborate and work co-operatively with cross functional teams to execute on product vision and strategy demonstrating mutual respect
  • Extraordinary problem-solving skills; questioning the status quo and taking calculated risks to deliver market-leading products.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate a deep knowledge of education technologies and the Australian Primary Education market. Experience in a commercial educational publishing role and an undergraduate degree or postgraduate qualification in publishing, project management, teaching or a related field is essential.
