NewSouth Books is the sales, marketing and distribution division of UNSW Press Ltd. A dynamic business that represents more than 80 local and overseas publishers in the Australian and New Zealand market, it sells fiction, nonfiction, illustrated and children’s books in print and digital formats.

We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic account manager for Victoria and Tasmania, based in Melbourne. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your career in a successful, award-winning company.

As an account manager you will report to the sales manager and work as a part of the national sales team.

Accountabilities for this role include:

• To provide a professional, efficient, reliable, and customer-focused sales service to the book market in your territory
• To be an effective communicator with good negotiating skills, the ability to work independently and be self-motivated to achieve excellent sales results
• Be able to identify opportunities and build partnerships to maximise sales for front and backlist titles.

Skills and Experience

• Sales experience is essential
• A passion for books and reading and an understanding of the changing nature of the book industry
• Strong organisational and office technology skills
• High-level written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously and to deadlines.
