FT Business Book of the Year Award shortlist announced

In the UK, the shortlist for the 2022 Financial Times Business Book of the Year Award has been announced.
The shortlisted books are:
- Dead in the Water: Murder and fraud in the world’s most secretive industry (Matthew Campbell & Kit Chellel, Atlantic)
- Influence Empire: The story of Tencent and China’s tech ambition (Lulu Chen, Hodder & Stoughton)
- The Rise and Fall of the Neoliberal Order: America and the world in the free market era (Gary Gerstle, OUP)
- The Power Law: Venture capital and the art of disruption (Sebastian Mallaby, Allen Lane)
- Chip War: The fight for the world’s most critical technology (Chris Miller, S&S)
- Disorder: Hard times in the 21st century (Helen Thompson, OUP).
First presented in 2005, the Business Book of the Year Award goes to the book that provides ‘the most compelling and enjoyable’ insight into modern business issues. The winner receives £30,000 (A$50k) and each of the remaining shortlisted books will be awarded £10,000 (A$16,650).
This Is How They Tell Me the World Ends: The cyber weapons arms race (Nicole Perlroth, Bloomsbury) was the winner of last year’s Book of the Year Award.
The winner of this year’s prize will be announced on 5 December.
