HarperCollins Publishers has an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced publicist to join the HarperCollins Adult Books team in the role of publicity manager. As Australia’s oldest publisher, HarperCollins Australia is the home to some of Australia’s favourite storytellers, including: Trent Dalton, Julia Baird, Richard Fidler, Jimmy Barnes, Holly Ringland, Stan Grant and Dervla McTiernan.

Reporting to the head of marketing and communications, the publicity manager is responsible for crafting creative and strategic publicity campaigns and tours for some of HarperCollins Australia’s biggest authors. Additionally, the publicity manager leads the local publicity team, managing a team of publicists and helping to mentor junior staff.

Working closely with the head of marketing and communications, the publicity manager plays an essential role in building and maintaining excellent working relationships with authors, agents, media, booksellers and event organisers. They are also required to contribute to internal discussions around acquisitions, positioning and jacketing of titles on the HarperCollins Australia list as well as to lead inter-departmental discussions around campaigns for top-tier titles.
