Hessel wins Waterstones Book of the Year for ‘The Story of Art Without Men’
In the UK, Waterstones has named Katy Hessel’s The Story of Art Without Men (Hutchinson Heinemann) its Book of the Year for 2022, reports the Bookseller.
Bonnie Garmus, author of Lessons in Chemistry (Doubleday), was also named Author of the Year and A F Steadman’s Skandar and the Unicorn Thief (S&S Children’s) was named Children’s Book of the Year. All three were chosen from a shortlist of 10 drawn up by Waterstones booksellers.
Every year Waterstones booksellers vote for the books they have most enjoyed recommending to their customers, but this year Waterstones said that ‘this year’s excellent publishing, and outstanding bookseller enthusiasm for all three titles has resulted in the selection of three exceptional winners’.
Last year’s winner was Paul McCartney for The Lyrics: 1956 to the Present (Allen Lane).
