Miller wins FT Book of the Year for ‘Chip War’

In the UK, Chip War: The Fight for the world’s most critical technology (Chris Miller, S&S) has won the 2022 Financial Times (FT) Book of the Year Award.

In Chip War, Miller unpicks the long supply chains that make up the complex network that builds and assembles semiconductors, and examines the implications of our global dependency on a few vast manufacturers.

Judge and FT editor Roula Khalaf said: ‘The fight for semiconductors and the quest for supply chain resilience are among the biggest economic and business stories of our time and will be for much of the near future.’

‘It is one of the most important books that I’ve read this year. It’s engaging, with fascinating characters and many twists and turns. It is a must-read for every business leader and policymaker.’

First presented in 2005, the Business Book of the Year Award goes to the book that provides ‘the most compelling and enjoyable’ insight into modern business issues. The winner receives £30,000 (A$50k) and each of the remaining shortlisted books are awarded £10,000 (A$16,650).

This Is How They Tell Me the World Ends: The cyber weapons arms race (Nicole Perlroth, Bloomsbury) was the winner of last year’s Book of the Year Award.
