The Next Chapter, Open Book receive Australia Council funding

The Australia Council has announced its latest round of funding, with $9.5 million going to 225 creative projects and activities.

Among the recipients was the Wheeler Centre (TWC), which received $100,000 funding for the Next Chapter program, ‘designed to champion and support writers from underrepresented backgrounds’ and previously funded by the Aesop Foundation. TWC previously announced last year that the program would not be open for 2022 applications following the end of the organisation’s partnership with Aesop Foundation.

The funding round also included $40,000 for the Open Book: Australian Publishing Internship, which in its inaugural year offered two placements in 2022.
