Five Australian publishers shortlisted for 2023 Bologna Prize

Australian publishers Affirm Press, EK Books, Magabala Books, Starfish Bay and Wilkins Farago have been shortlisted in this year’s Bologna Prize for Best Children’s Publisher of the Year in the Oceania category.

The awards are presented to publishers in six geographic regions that are ‘at the forefront of innovation in their activity for the creative nature of the editorial choices they have made during the previous year’.

Affirm Press, EK Books and Magabala have been shortlisted for the second year in a row. The winner of the 2022 Prize in the Oceania category was Aotearoa New Zealand publisher Beatnik Publishing.

The winners will be announced at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair (BCBF) held from 6–9 March, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
