Writers SA launches Writers in Schools program

South Australian writers will be embedded in outer suburban and regional South Australian public high schools, as part of Writers SA’s Writers in Schools program.

As part of the program, professional writers will be embedded in the schools to teach writing skills, provide career pathways, and inspire a love of writing and reading in students. The writers will be provided employment for the two- or four-week residencies, where they will also work on personal creative projects.

The writers will also work with teachers to provide writing workshops, author talks and other activities with students in alignment with the curriculum.

The first three writers to take part in the program are Jude Aquilina, Allayne Webster and Jennifer Mills. The program has been funded by the Australia Council for the Arts. For more information, click here.
