PANZ climate action report released

The Publishers Association of New Zealand Te Rau o Tākupu (PANZ) has announced the completion of its report on Climate Action for the New Zealand Publishing Industry: A snapshot and a pathway forward, prepared by the Sustainable Business Network in collaboration with the PANZ sustainability working group.

‘When we started the working group, it was clear to us almost immediately that what we needed was information,’ said PANZ. ‘To begin the process of moving our industry towards carbon neutrality, we needed to begin with a firm understanding of where we are now and this is what the report has given us.’

The report covers climate action globally and in New Zealand, including legislation and other commitments New Zealand as a nation has signed up for; what climate action is being undertaken in publishing overseas, and how this applies to the New Zealand Industry, including resources for local publishers and identified opportunities for the local industry; a summary of the results of a survey on sustainability and identification of ‘the significant challenges and opportunities that exist’; and a pathway to action, ‘including principles to base that action on, and a suggested pathway covering the next three years’.

A copy of the report is available by emailing PANZ.
