Screen Australia funds ‘Eggshell Skull’ adaptation development
Screen Australia has announced story development funding for a feature film adaptation of Eggshell Skull (Bri Lee, A&U), as one of 20 projects sharing in $700,000 development funding.
Actor Mia Wasikowska, as writer/director, is adapting Lee’s memoir as a ‘ a coming of rage’ drama that charts Lee’s journey through the Australian legal system as a judge’s associate and complainant seeking justice for a crime that has haunted her since childhood. The story follows Lee as she witnesses confronting cases in the courtroom and tries to manage her own trauma rising to the surface along the way.
Eggshell Skull will be produced by Justin Kurzel (True History of the Kelly Gang), Shaun Grant (Penguin Bloom) and Nicole O’Donohue (The Daughter).
