The Publisher will work with the Editorial Advisory Board to develop the MUP publishing program in line with the vision and objectives set by the MUP Board. Leading the editorial and production team the Publisher is responsible to the CEO for commissioning initiatives, contract negotiation, stakeholder and author relationship management, and commercial management of the book publishing program.
MUP is seeking an outstanding Publisher who will secure MUP’s future as a great and distinctive university press through a continued commitment to quality and excellence, ensuring effective engagement with the University of Melbourne, the Editorial Advisory Board, the MUP Board, the academic community and other authors locally and internationally.
The ideal candidate will have extensive management experience in a senior editorial role within the book publishing industry and a solid understanding of the objectives of an academic publisher. They will need strong interpersonal skills, high emotional intelligence and the ability to present effectively to a range of audiences.
