Vale Barry Humphries

Australian comedian, actor, and author Barry Humphries has died. He was the author of numerous books, including two autobiographies and two novels.

Hachette Australia said staff are saddened to hear of Barry Humphries’s passing and send their condolences to his wife Lizzie, his children, family and loved ones.

Hachette group publishing director Fiona Hazard writes:

‘We worked with Barry on his bestselling unauthorised biography of Dame Edna, Handling Edna in 2009. Barry was truly charming with a rapier wit and always entertaining. He made Australia and the world laugh for over sixty years. And as he said himself: “Laughter is a marvellous thing”. He will be missed.’
