PRH US reportedly offers redundancy to older works

Penguin Random House US (PRH) is offering redundancy packages to employees aged 60 or older with 15 years of service or more, reports Publishers Lunch.

Eligible employees have until 20 June to take up the offer, with those who accept leaving the company on 1 September. PRH US told Publishers Lunch the voluntary separation offer (VSO) program has no set numbers. ‘Separate and apart from the VSO, the economic reality of our business has changed due to strong headwinds, and we must always continue to explore ways to achieve sustainable savings and efficiencies, alongside new growth strategies and any changes could, as ever, potentially affect some of our programs and people’.

PRH is the third big US publisher to make voluntary offers, following similar moves from HarperCollins US and Hachette Book Group.
