ALS Gold Medal 2023 longlist announced

The longlist for the 2023 Australian Literature Society (ALS) Gold Medal has been announced.

The longlisted works are:

  • Cold Enough for Snow (Jessica Au, Giramondo)
  • Daisy and Woolf (Michelle Cahill, Hachette)
  • We Come With This Place (Debra Dank, Echo Publishing)
  • Googlecholia (Michael Farrell, Giramondo)
  • Harvest Lingo (Lionel Fogarty, Giramondo)
  • The Jaguar (Sarah Holland-Batt, UQP)
  • Salonika Burning (Gail Jones, Text)
  • Iris (Fiona Kelly McGregor, Pan Macmillan)
  • Waypoints (Adam Ouston, Puncher & Wattmann)
  • ART (Charmaine Papertalk Green & John Kinsella, Magabala Books)
  • The Settlement (Jock Serong, Text)
  • At the Altar of Touch (Gavin Yuan Gao, UQP)

The 2023 judges are Larissa McLean Davies, Philip Mead, Helen Cozmescu and Melitta Hogarth.

Awarded annually for an outstanding literary work in the preceding calendar year, the ALS Gold Medal is Australia’s longest running literary award. The winner, to be announced in July, receives a gold medal.
