Waterstones debut fiction prize shortlist announced

In the UK, the shortlist for the Waterstones Debut Fiction Prize, worth £5000 (A$9570), has been announced, reports the Bookseller.
The six titles shortlisted for the award are:
- Wandering Souls (Cecile Pin, Fourth Estate)
- Close to Home (Michael Magee, Hamish Hamilton)
- Kala (Colin Walsh, Atlantic Books)
- In Memoriam (Alice Winn, Viking)
- Chain-Gang All-Stars (Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah, Harvill Secker)
- Fire Rush (Jacqueline Crooks, Jonathan Cape).
The winner of last year’s inaugural Waterstones Debut Fiction Prize, The Rabbit Hutch (Tess Gunty, Oneworld), was ‘immediately propelled into the bestseller chart, seeing an impressive sales increase of over 800%,’ Waterstones said.
