Vincent appointed Wheeler Centre CEO

The Wheeler Centre has appointed ABC journalist and producer Erin Vincent as its new CEO, replacing Caro Llewellyn, who announced earlier this year that she would step down from the role in July.

Vincent, who began her career as a journalist in regional Victoria and then Network Ten before joining the ABC in 2009, has worked on ABC programs including News Breakfast, Insiders and most recently as executive producer of Q+A.

Said TWC in a statement: ‘During her time at the ABC, Erin has developed an extensive network of contacts both in Australia and overseas, and has led projects and strategies to reach new audiences across digital and social platforms. She championed a 50:50 gender initiative in partnership with the BBC, overseeing the strategy to improve gender representation in both content and audiences. Erin played a pivotal role in spearheading the development of Australia Talks, an ambitious whole-of-ABC content initiative, informed by the audience.’

TWC chair Kate Torney said the board was ‘excited about Erin’s bold vision for the future of the Wheeler Centre and her commitment to encouraging an ongoing, inclusive and diverse exchange of ideas’. ‘Her proven track record of working with many of Australia’s leading thinkers, writers, speakers and changemakers, coupled with her deep experience exploring new ways to reach audiences, mean that she is well placed to lead an exciting next stage for the Wheeler Centre,’ said Torney.

Vincent said she was ‘thrilled to be leading the team at the Wheeler Centre, a place of such cultural importance to Melbourne, my home city.  At a time when the Wheeler Centre is finding new ways to reach audiences, I see this as an important moment to further enhance its reputation as the home of books, writing and ideas.’

Vincent will begin in the role on 28 August 2023.
