Johnson, Ryckmans set up new lit agency

Lou Johnson and Jeanne Ryckmans have set up a new literary agency, Key People Literary Management.

Johnson was most recently the international publishing director for Miami-based Mango Publishing, after previous stints as publishing director at Murdoch Books and managing director of Simon & Schuster Australia. Ryckmans is the author of the forthcoming book Trust: A fractured fable (Upswell), and has held roles at Random House, HarperCollins, and Black Inc., before becoming a literary agent.

Johnson and Ryckmans have known each other since both worked for Random House in 2000. ‘Between the two, Johnson-Ryckmans have worked across all facets of the global consumer publishing industry, books to screen, audio, digital and championed hundreds of award-winning authors across all genres,’ a statement said. ‘After dreaming of working together again for many years, the time is now right for them to launch a literary management company operating across content streams and commercial channels.’

Johnson told Books+Publishing Key People Literary Management will be operational in ‘the next few weeks’.
