Inaugural TikTok Book Awards winners

In the UK, Bolu Babalola’s Honey & Spice (Headline Review) has won the BookTok Book of the Year prize at the inaugural TikTok Book Awards, reports the Bookseller.

Babalola won the Book of the Year award over the other shortlisted titles Lies We Sing to the Sea (Sarah Underwood, Electric Monkey), Young Mungo (Douglas Stuart, Picador), and Maame (Jessica George, Hodder & Stoughton).

Among other winners were Holly Jackson, who was named BookTok Author of the Year; Eden Victoria, who was named Creator of the Year; Portobello Bookshop in Edinburgh, which won Indie Bookshop of the Year; and Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, which won Best BookTok Revival.

The awards were presented at a ceremony in London on 17 August. TikTok users voted for the winners from a longlist of nominees, created based on BookTok data and publisher contributions and reviewed by a panel including BookTok creators, industry experts and authors.
