Readings Children’s Book Prize 2023 shortlist announced

The shortlist for the 2023 Readings Children’s Book Prize has been announced.

This year’s six shortlisted books are:

  • The Bookseller’s Apprentice (Amelia Mellor, Affirm)
  • The Eerie Excavation (An Alice England Mystery) (Ash Harrier, Pantera)
  • Evie and Rhino (Neridah McMullin, illus by Astred Hicks, Walker)
  • No Words (Maryam Master, Pan)
  • Sea Glass (Rebecca Fraser, Wombat Books)
  • The Wintrish Girl (Talismans of Fate, Book 1) (Melanie La’Brooy, UQP)

This year’s award is judged by Readings staff Katey Bellew (chair of judges, Readings Kids), Kate McIntosh (manager of Readings Emporium) and Janine Larson (Readings Kids).

The winners of the Readings Children’s Book Prize will be announced on 25 October alongside the winners of the Readings Young Adult Prize and New Australian Fiction Prize awards, shortlists for which will be announced on 24 August and 29 August respectively. Prize winners each receive $3000.
