Thames & Hudson is announcing two key open positions to fill the role of Commercial Director and Head of Operations. These positions will play a crucial role in driving our business success by overseeing commercial strategies and ensuring efficient operational processes.

Thames & Hudson Australia has locally operated for over 52 years and is the industry-leading publisher and distributor of high-quality illustrated books. In recent years T&H Australia has expanded its Australian publishing operations to catalogue size of approximately 50 original titles whilst we distribute over 2000 new titles across ANZ each year.

The company has experienced a decade of high growth in which time it tripled in turnover, headcount, and profits.

Commercial Director

Reporting to the Regional Managing Director, the Commercial Director is responsible for the commercial operations of the company throughout Australia and New Zealand, this encompasses the Sales, Marketing and Product departments.

This is a senior leadership position holding office of Associate Director on the T&H Australia board of directors.

The Commercial Director has overall responsibility for driving revenue growth, strategic partnerships, marketing and communications strategy and supplier relationships.

T&H Australia is investing in this new, key leadership position to help leverage business onto its next stage of growth in Australia and New Zealand.

Commercial Director

• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or finance (post-graduate qualification preferred).
• 10+ years of book publishing experience with a strong network in the Australian marketplace.
• A deep understanding of sales, marketing, and business development.
• Proven track record in senior leadership and management.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Adaptability to a dynamic market landscape.
• Tech-savvy with a focus on digital market requirements.
• Results-oriented with a drive to achieve ambitious goals.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record in fostering close, collaborative relationships across departmental teams.

Head of Operations

The Head of Operations reports to the Regional Managing Director and assumes overall responsibility for distribution, shipping, production, data management, and digital processes. This role provides comprehensive operational support to the organisation’s commercial functions.

This key role forms part of the T&H senior executive team and is pivotal for the smooth running of business operations.
