Pearl Prize finalists announced
Midsumma Festival has announced the 15 finalists for its inaugural Pearl Prize.
The prize accepted entries of short pieces of unpublished prose and/or poetry from LGBTIQA+ writers and their allies on the theme ‘A Brave(R) Space’. An anthology featuring the finalists, produced by Osborne and Fawkner Publishing, will be available for purchase during the Midsumma Festival.

Midsumma described the Pearl Prize as ‘a writing award where Queer writers have a platform of self-expression through the writing landscape and into publication’. ‘The Pearl Prize is unique to Midsumma Festival as it is the first of its kind in a queer arts and culture festival in Australia.’
Presented with Osborne and Fawkner Publishing and supported by the festival, the prize’s inaugural winner will be announced on 3 February, at an event at the Hares and Hyenas bookshop in the Victorian Pride Centre.
