Brisbane Writers Festival releases 2024 program

The Brisbane Writers Festival (BWF) has launched its 2024 program, which will run from 30 May until 2 June.

Over 150 live events are planned for the 2024 festival, with more than 60 of the guests Brisbane-based authors. The program also features contributions from First Nations guest curators Melanie Saward and Lenora Thaker.

Among those attending the 2024 event are local guests Melissa Lucashenko, Julia Baird, Kate Ceberano, Chris Hammer, Anita Heiss, Clare Christian, Laura Jean McKay, Bri Lee, Charlotte Wood and Trent Dalton; alongside these are international writers including Paul Murray, Michael Connelly, Naomi Novik, Louise Doughty, Katy Hessel and Samantha Shannon, as well as authors from Singapore’s Sing Lit Station writing and reading platform.

‘Our slogan is “Have we got a story for you”,’ said BWF artistic director Jackie Ryan, ‘and it’s a promise we’re keen to deliver on—whether your appetite is for culture, science, sport, literature, politics, espionage, music, health, comedy, romance, performance, crime, history, poetry—or a combination of the above.’

The festival will include author talks, panel discussions, workshops and special events, along with the Word Play program for school students on 30 and 31 May and the Love YA day on 1 June. The full program is available on the BWF website.
