QBD named in Deloitte’s Best Managed Companies program

Bookselling chain QBD has been named as one of Australia’s Best Managed Companies in an award program run by Deloitte Australia.

Accepting the award on behalf of the organisation, QBD CEO Nick Croydon said that, as brick-and-mortar bookselling businesses continue to face challenges, the award was a sign that the company was ‘on the right trajectory and people are taking notice’.

Croydon also discussed the importance of diversification, partnerships and new technologies in the company’s ambitions, adding that QBD was ‘approaching AI with cautious optimism’ as the bookselling chain seeks to identify how such technologies could support staff and customers.

QBD Books was established in the late 1800s and currently includes 88 brick-and-mortar bookstores and an online shop, with a stated goal of reaching 100 physical stores.

Deloitte’s Best Managed Companies program runs in 48 countries, and ‘recognises privately held companies for their organisational success and achievement’. Past Australian winners of the award include King Living, ADCO and Infotrack.
