Ondaatje Prize 2024 longlist

The longlist for this year’s £10,000 (A$19,321) Royal Society of Literature Ondaatje Prize has been announced.
The longlisted titles are:
- The Britannias: An island quest (Alice Albinia, Allen Lane)
- Falling Animals (Sheila Armstrong, Bloomsbury)
- Thunderclap (Laura Cumming, Vintage)
- Enter Ghost (Isabella Hammad, Vintage)
- Local Interest (Emily Hasler, Pavilion Poetry)
- Nothing Ever Just Disappears (Diarmuid Hester, Penguin)
- In Search of Berlin (John Kampfner, Atlantic)
- A Flat Place (Noreen Masud, Penguin)
- Cuddy (Benjamin Myers, Bloomsbury)
- No Man’s Land (David Nash, Dedalus Press)
- Fassbinder Thousands of Mirrors (Ian Penman, Fitzcarraldo Editions)
- Wandering Souls (Cecile Pin, Fourth Estate)
- Two Lights: Walking through landscapes of loss and life (James Roberts, September Publishing)
- Elowen (William Henry Searle, Little Toller Books).
The shortlist will be announced later this month, with the winner to be announced in May.
The winner of last year’s award was Anthony Anaxagorou for his collection Heritage Aesthetics (Granta).
