SLNSW offers new $50K creative writing fellowship

The State Library of NSW (SLNSW) has announced the creation of a new $50,000 creative writing fellowship, as well as a new Summer Scholars Program.

The $50,000 Imago Creative Writing Fellowship, made possible ‘through a generous anonymous benefactor’, is to support an emerging writer to produce a nonfiction or fiction work of any genre, according to SLNSW. The benefactor said they were ‘eager to support a literary project judged on its creativity as well as its importance to our cultural life’.

In addition to the new fellowship, SLNSW also announced a new Summer Scholars Program, supported by the Library Foundation, which will offer five tertiary students and five creative practitioners $1000 each and the opportunity to ‘learn important archival research skills that they can take with them into the next stage of their careers’.

The new initiatives come as the library celebrates 50 years of its fellowship program. More information is on the SLNSW website.
