Book industry figures recognised in King’s Birthday Honours

Several book industry figures were among those recognised in the 2024 King’s Birthday Honours.

Bundjalung artist and illustrator Bronwyn Bancroft was appointed Officer of the Order of Australia (AO), for ‘significant service to the arts, and to the Indigenous community’.

Those awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) included poet and scholar Mark O’Connor, for ‘service to literature as a poet and educator’; writer Robyn Davidson, for ‘service to adventure and exploration literature’; and Kathy Sharon Shand for ‘services to Sydney Writers’ Festival as Chair and Board Member, Sydney Opera House and Sydney Jewish Museum.’
