Byron Writers Festival full program announced

Byron Writers Festival has announced its full program for the 2024 festival, which will take place from 9 to 11 August on Bundjalung Country in Bangalow, in northern New South Wales.

Exploring the theme ‘from the ground up’, the 2024 festival will feature over 160 authors, in panels and conversations, as well as writing workshops, book launches, a children’s program, and events across the Northern Rivers region.

International guests include novelists Chigozie Obioma, Caoilinn Hughes and Leo Vardiashvili discussing their books, as well as poets Meena Kandasamy and Tayi Tibble. Among local guests are Trent Dalton, Richard Flanagan, Jane Harper, Melissa Lucashenko, Charlotte Wood, Bruce Pascoe, Bob Brown, Lili Wilkinson, Steph Tisdell, Graham Akhurst, Julia Baird, Nam Le, Ali Cobby Eckermann, Lynette Noni, Bryan Brown, Tony Birch, William McInnes, Yumna Kassab, David Marr, Louise Milligan, Jazz Money, Kim Williams and Kerry O’Brien.

Discussing the theme, incoming program director Jessica Alice said: ‘From the ground up springs new life, new ideas, and new possibilities. It’s where communities mobilise, and movements are born. This festival program explores our histories and the seeds of the futures that we begin to build today.’
