Vale Tim Bowden

Television and radio broadcaster and author Tim Bowden has died, aged 87.

Bowden was the author of almost 20 books, including One Crowded Hour (1987, Angus & Robertson), a biography of Australian combat cameraperson Neil Davis, which ‘remains a must-read for aspiring photographers, cinematographers, journalists and war buffs’, according to the publisher.

Other works by Bowden include The Way My Father Tells It: The Story of an Australian Life (2002, ABC Books); No Tern Unstoned: Musings at Breakfast (2011, ABC Books); This Can’t Happen to Me!, a book about Type 2 diabetes (2004, Allen & Unwin); World War II history titles Stubborn Buggers (2014, Allen & Unwin) and Larrikins in Khaki (2019, Allen & Unwin); The Changi Camera (2012, Hachette); and the memoir Spooling Through (2023, ETT Imprint).

Among Bowden’s travel titles is Antarctica and Back in Sixty Days (1996, ABC Books).
